EMG (Electromyography)
Evaluates the electrical activity of muscles and helps assess neuromuscular and peripheral nerve disorders.
NCS (Nerve Conduction Study)
Measures how electrical signals travel through peripheral nerves and helps evaluate nerve injury, neuropathy and related conditions.
VEP (Visual Evoked Potential)
Assesses the visual pathway from the eyes to the brain and can help evaluate optic nerve and visual pathway disorders.

Test Preparation
EEG Preparation
Wash and dry your hair before the test and avoid applying hair oil, gel, spray or other hair products. Bring your medication list and relevant previous reports. If a sleep-deprived EEG has been requested, follow the specific sleep instructions provided by the centre.
EMG / NCS Preparation
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and avoid applying lotions or creams to the area being tested. Inform the clinical team about your medications, particularly blood-thinning medicines, and about implanted electrical devices such as a pacemaker.
VEP Preparation
Little preparation is usually required. If you normally use prescription glasses or contact lenses, bring them with you. Follow any additional instructions given when your test is scheduled.
BAER Preparation
Special preparation is usually minimal. You will generally need to remain relaxed and still during the recording. Please follow any age- or condition-specific instructions provided when booking.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these tests painful?
EEG, VEP and BAER are non-invasive recordings and are generally painless. NCS uses brief electrical stimulation that can feel unusual or mildly uncomfortable. Needle EMG uses a fine electrode inserted into selected muscles and may cause temporary discomfort.
How long do results take?
Reporting time depends on the type of neurodiagnostic study and whether additional clinical review is required. The Nandi Diagnostics team will advise you about the expected report availability for your test.
Can I take medications before the test?
Do not stop or change prescribed medicines unless your treating doctor or the testing team specifically instructs you to do so. Bring or provide an up-to-date list of the medicines you are taking.
